Dallas Rice

March 8, 1950 — July 12, 2022

Dallas Rice, age 72, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 with his loving family was at his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4th at the home of Dennis and Kathy Duffy, 1850 N. 2959th Road Ottawa, IL.  Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dallas was born March 8, 1950 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of DeWayne and Beverly (Stevens) Rice.  He married Jami Kennedy June 1, 1991at Point Shelter in Starved Rock in Ottawa, Illinois.  Surviving are his loving wife, Jami; children, Michael, Angela, Jennifer, Dallas Jr., Lisa, and Nicky Kennedy; brothers, Joe and Dewey Rice; a sister, Cathy (Dennis) Duffy; multiple grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jack, Danny and Garnie Rice; sisters, Gayla and Debbie Rice; and a nephew, Garnie Rice Jr.

Dallas was a member of St. Columba Church in Ottawa.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked as a Laborer for 35 plus years.  Dallas was an outdoors man who loved hunting, fishing, boating, and hunting for mushrooms.  He was a great cook and was known for his home-made sausage and tenderloins among many other works.  Dallas was known for his quick wit and was always good at cracking a joke.  He also liked gambling and being around his friends and family.
