Curtis M. Jorstad

June 1, 1923 — January 23, 2007

Curtis M. Jorstad, 83, of rural Seneca, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at Heritage Manor in Peru. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Stavanger Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip W. Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Stavanger Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa and from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church. Mr. Jorstad was born June 1, 1923, in Grundy County, Ill. to Sidney and Mildred (Olson) Jorstad. He married Myrtle Marie Osmonson on October 1, 1949, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. She died October 26, 2004. He was a life long farmer in La Salle County. He served on the Milton Pope School Board for 20 years, the La Salle County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Prairie Rivers and the State of Illinois Resource Conservation and Development District, Newark Farmers Grain Coop Board. He was a member of the Cup of Cold Water Ministry, Stavanger Home Builders and the Ottawa S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Chorus. He served in the U. S. Army Pacific Theater. He was a life long member of Stavanger Lutheran Church. He is survived by a son Douglas (Susan) of Ransom; three daughters, Marilyn (Walter) Antas of Peru, Gail (Michael) Cross-Parkins of Ottawa and Joyce (Keith) Schrieber of Ballwin, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tina Billhymer of Dana, Ill., Timothy Billhymer of Arlington, Ill., Kristen (Drew) Patton of Quincy, Ill., Jacob Gleim of Grand Ridge, Ill., Lindsey Cross of Ottawa, Katelyn, Eric and Kelsey Jorstad of Ransom; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Milford (Lorraine) and Russel (Shirley) Jorstad of Morris. Pallbearers will be Eric, Steve and Mark Jorstad, Jacob Gleim, Drew Patton, Tina Billhymer and Lindsey Cross. Memorials may be directed to Stavanger Lutheran Church
