Charles D. "Chuck" Woods, 69, of Ottawa, died Friday evening, September 7, 2007, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral services will be a 6 p.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. David M. Kipfer officiating with a flag folding by the honor guard. Entombment of the cremains will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home. Mr. Woods was born August 6, 1938 in Malden, Mo. to John Richard and Inez Irene (Bratcher) Wood. He married Carole Jeffries Lawrence on November 19, 1977 in Ottawa. He was a retired carpenter of Local 195 in Ottawa. He owned Woods Construction Co. in Ottawa. He was a lifetime member of the Ottawa Loyal Order of the Moose, No 960. He was a member of the Cedar Masonic Lodge No. 124 A.F. & A.M., Morris, Ill., and the Mohammed Shrine of Peoria, Ill. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp. serving in the Philippines. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Charles D. (Mary Ellen) Wood, Jr. of Marseilles, Christopher D. Wood of Las Vegas, Nev., Clayton D. Wood of Orient, Ohio, Craig (Sheri) Wood of Cincinnati, Ohio; four daughters, Cynthia D. (Louis) Ashton of Goodyear, Ariz., Coralee "Diane" Woods of Indian Lake, Ohio, Cheryl D. (Bill) Davis of Marysville, Ohio and Carrie D. (George) Kruger of Chicago, Ill.; a stepson, Daniel W. (Donna) Lawrence of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Cooper of Troy, Mo., Sue (Bob) Parker of Warrington, Mo. and Joan (James) Hillis of Williamsville, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Robinson.
