Catherine Armstrong Farley, 97, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at Pleasant View Luther Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Chaplain Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services. Mrs. Farley was born December 19, 1910, in Streator, Ill., to Elmer E. and Ethel (Stewart) Armstrong. She married Walter "Pete" A. Farley on November 20, 1940, in Ottawa. He died January 4, 1984. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, life member of the Rebecca's Lodge and a 50 year member of the Mary E. Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a son, Walter A. II (Michele) of Sandwich; a daughter, Susan Jane (Gary) Sampson of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Dean (Angela) Farley, Kristen (Craig) Mitchell, Dr. Steven (Julie) Sampson and Dawn (Stewart) Thornbury; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (John) Fedor of Streator and Betty June Wright of Streator; three sisters-in-law, Shirley and Evelyn Armstrong and Margaret Farley Andrews all of Ottawa; a brother-in-law, Robert Farley of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Edward "Clyde", Robert, Stewart Benjamin Armstrong and Elmer Armstrong in infancy; and a sister, Jane Jones. Pallbearers will be nephews, David, Jack, John, Pete, Rick and Robert Armstrong. Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Ottawa, Friendship Village or Pleasant View Luther Home.
