Catherine Carr, age 85, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Ottawa Pavilion. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is honored to serve the family. Catherine was born April 29, 1926 at Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a daughter of Dr. Victor H. and Edwina (Hastings) Carr. She is survived by two brothers, Victor H. Carr, Jr. and wife Yuriko of Summerfield, Florida and Stewart Carr of Banning, California; and a nephew, Victor H. Carr III of Kearneysville, West Virginia. Her parents preceded her in death. Catherine was a graduate of Marseilles High School. She attended McMurray College and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse from Grant Hospital of Chicago School of Nursing. She retired from Cook County Hospital as an Emergency Room and Operating Room nurse. Catherine attended the First Congregational Church in Ottawa. She enjoyed music as a violinist and had played in the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
