Carole Allyn (Brown) Whalen

SERENA – Carole Allyn Whalen, 77, of Serena, passed away Monday, November 17, 2014 at Meadow Brook Manor in Naperville.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend David M. Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. till service time Thursday morning at the funeral home. Burial will follow in West Serena Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John and Ryan Whalen, Casey Ciolino, Brian Cluever, Tim Gunier, and Jake Naggs.
Carole was born October 27, 1937 in Sandwich, Illinois, the daughter of Allen and Erma (Duffy) Brown. She married William Whalen December 31, 1956. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Jerry (Lois) Whalen of Seneca, Judy Kelly of Wheaton, Jim (Brenda) Whalen of Seneca, Jolene (Dave) Ciolino of Wheaton, John (Cindy) Whalen of Sheridan, and Jeff (Wendy) Whalen of Chicago; her grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Whalen, Megan (Tim) Gunier, Samantha (Christine) Bennington, Kayla Kelly, John Whalen, Brian (Sarah) Cluever, Casey and Erin Ciolino, and Jenna, Justina, and Oakley Whalen; and one great granddaughter, Emma Gunier. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Brown.
Carole attended St. Michael’s Church in Wheaton. In her leisure, she enjoyed knitting and reading. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
