OTTAWA – Beverly J. Murphy, age 90, of Ottawa passed away Monday morning, September 19, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 at Praise Center Assembly of God Church with Reverend Raymond Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Christopher and Tony Mettille, Jeremy Hardersen, Joshua Jonassen, and Beau and Spencer Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Sparks, Noah Jonassen, Brandon Rick, Christopher A., Jerry and Jeff Mettille, Nick Albertus, Caleb, Jacob, and Joshua Mettille, and Michael Mettille.
Beverly was born June 30, 1926 in La Salle, the daughter of John and Ethel (Carpenter) Cilla. She married Earl Murphy December 21, 1974 in North Aurora, Illinois. Surviving are her husband of nearly 42 years, Earl, of Ottawa; her daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Mettille of Ottawa, and Judy Breuer of Earlville; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and one on the way; and her son in-law, Mark Jonassen of Wedron. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kent Cummings; two daughters, Sandra Cummings and Cynthia Jonassen; two great grandsons, Chade Mettille and Aaron Rick; two brothers, Donald Cilla and Eldon Munson; her sister, Verna Dudas; and her stepfather, Rudolph Munson.
Beverly was a member of Praise Center Assembly of God Church. She dearly loved her church and visiting with her lady friends from church. Beverly was one of the rare survivors of the Radium Girls. In her younger years she enjoyed crocheting and had made many afghans and other items. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pet Project.
