Betty was born June 27, 1930 in Ottawa, Illinois, to Raymond and Beulah (Smith) Blue. She married Lewis Franklin Foster December 6, 1947 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death November 18, 2003. Surviving are her children, Diana Rose (Gerald) DeSpain of Republic, Missouri, Clayton “Clay” (Francy) Foster of Andover, Minnesota and Clinton “Clint” (Michelle) Foster of Rogers, Minnesota. She also leaves grandchildren, Brian L. DeSpain, Isabella F., Levi C. and Lauryn E. Foster; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberley K. DeSpain.
Betty was a homemaker. She enjoyed drawing and painting pictures while her eyesight allowed. Betty had a great appreciation for music. She loved to dance - especially the jitterbug! Betty dearly treasured her family, and particularly enjoyed her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed camping in their travel trailer. Betty loved the mountains and particularly the Black Hills of South Dakota. She enjoyed bird watching while vacationing and always brought along a bird book on vacations to help identify birds she (and her children) hadn’t seen before. She always made time for people and loved conversations. She could always be found encouraging, comforting, and/or helping someone. While not a member of a church in her later years, she was a devout Christian and Jesus was her Savior and she made it a special point to introduce her children to Him also. Memorial contributions may be directed to Lakeview Ranch, 69531 213 th Street, Darwin, MN 55324.
