Betty (Clemens) Chiavario

August 12, 1923 — June 27, 2014

Betty Chiavario, age 90, of Leland, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30th at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Jeff Thayer and Jane Estey officiating.  Interment will follow at the Leland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Donna and Larry Fisk, Pat and Christopher Smith, and Sonny and Kevin Chiavario.

Betty was born August 12, 1923 at Morris, Illinois, a daughter of Charles and Eva (Olson) Clemens.  She married George E. Chiavario August 9, 1944 at Orlando, Florida.  He preceded her in death February 27, 2010.  Surviving are her children, Donna (Delbert) Fisk of Seneca, Eugene (Bonnie) Chiavario of Leland and Pat (Ed) Smith of Antioch; and her daughter-in-law, Joan Chiavario of Leland.  She also leaves a sister, Eloise (Jack) Ellerbrock of Wittenberg, Wisconsin;  twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Chiavario;  a brother, Everett Clemens; a sister, Ione Gilbertson;  and a great-grand-daughter, Kendal Bonnell.

Betty was a member of the Non-denominational Christian Home Fellowship.  She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed crocheting and gardening.  Betty was always ready to go spend time with George in their Wisconsin cabin.  She dearly loved her family and especially treasured time with the grandchildren playing board games.  Her kind, gentle spirit will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.  Betty’s family sincerely appreciates the loving care of her devoted caregiver.
