Benny Caffee Sr., 73, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 21, 2024.
Benny was born on May 30, 1950 in Ottawa, IL the son of Raymond and Phyllis (Reynolds) Caffee. His mother passed away when he was young and he was later helped raised by his stepmother, Mary Caffee. Benny attended school in Ottawa and went on to join the Army. He married the love of his life Sandy Carver. After some time he became a machinist, and was employed by Johnson Pattern and Machine which he retired from after 40 plus years of service. Benny coached and played softball and was also on a bowling league. He enjoyed working on cars in his younger years and also liked playing cards, especially FreeCell. Benny was an avid blood donor and over his course of time donated 15 gallons of blood. More than anything, Benny loved his family and loved spending time with them over a cup of coffee.
Benny is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Sandy; children, Trisha (Jim Martin Jr.) Caffee, Benny Caffee Jr., Tina Caffee, Samantha (Andrew Gould) Caffee and Brooklyn Caffee; several brothers and sisters; and a granddaughter, Evangeline Gould. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmom, a brother, and a sister.
