Anthony "Tony" Almeda

Anthony "Tony" Almeda, age 69, of Villa Park, formerly of Ottawa, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Dupage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. Memorial services in his honor will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Ottawa Moose Lodge. Private family services were held in Villa Park. Inurnment will be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Anthony "Tony" Almeda was born October 15, 1940 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Trinidad and Leonore (Huerta) Almeda. He married Beverly Thompson May 24, 1964 in Ottawa. Tony is survived by his wife, Beverly of Villa Park; two sons, Anthony "Tony" Almeda, Jr. of Wheaton and Clint Almeda of Villa Park. He also leaves five sisters, Catherine (Frank) Arroyo, Herlinda Almeda and Josie (Jerry) Jeffries all of Ottawa, Victoria (Sid) Hensley of Lexington, NC and Mary (John) Cabrera of Joliet; four brothers, Francis "Peppy" and Steven Almeda of Ottawa, Trinidad (Marie) Almeda of Utica and Raymond (Bette) Almeda of Streator. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Almeda. Tony served in the U. S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He had been employed as a construction worker in Ottawa and as a mechanic in Villa Park.
