Andrew J. Bickel, 72, of Marseilles, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Dodd officiating. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum in Joliet. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with liturgical prayers at 4 p.m. Mr. Bickel was born February 9, 1935 in Chicago to Andrew and Marie (Wheatinhaf) Bickel. He married Carol Doneske on October 14, 1961 in Chicago. He retired in 1983 from Western Electric. He served in the US Army and the Illinois National Guard. He is survived by his wife; a son, Neil (Michelle) of Channahon; a daughter, Doreen (Alan) Block of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Michael and Tabbitha Block, Grace and Mikayla Bickel. He was preceded in death by a brother, William and a sister, Rose Marie. Pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren. Memorials may be directed the American Heart Association.
