Adeline Jetta Dale

MARSEILLES - Adeline Jetta Dale, 87, of Marseilles, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 16th at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Duane Kaufman and Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa. Adeline was born September 3, 1923 in Pike County, Indiana, a daughter of Leta J. and Minnie (Robling) Shawhan. She married Cainan Isaac Dale September 4, 1941 at Oakland City, Indiana and worked along side him as he pastored several churches. She cared for him for several years when he suffered from Alzheimer's Disease. He preceded her in death in October of 1997. She is survived by four children, Robert Dale of Franklin, North Carolina, Gloria (Stephen) Mann of Morris, Paul (Linda) Dale of Ottawa and Loy (Karen) Dale of Rockford. She also leaves a brother, John Shawhan of Plainville, Indiana; and a sister, Helen Woodall of Port Charlotte, Florida. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Debbie (Brent) Schaefer, Robert (Sharon) Croissant, Scott Mann, Stanley (Frito) Mann, Kevin Dale, Rodney (Erica) Dale, Jeremy Dale, Amy Manning, Brent Dale, Tina (Dana) Chandler, Tracy (Grady) Powell, Trina (Cory) Emery and Brad Dale; great-grandchildren, Derek, Matt, Nathan, Kelsey, Robert, Cory Jr., Kayla, Alexander, Ashley, Brittany, Grady III, Max, Alex, Rachel, Kevin Jr., Troy, Drezdan, Nicholas, Samantha, Jessica, Zach and Cameron; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, parents, one sister, Edith and four brothers, Frank, George, Bill and Joe preceded her in death. Adeline was a member of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene. At the time when most people retire, she went to work for the Marseilles Elementary School. She loved her work and retired in June 2010 after working 22 years. She enjoyed reading and time spent with family and numerous dear friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marseilles Church of the Nazarene or the Marseilles Elementary School.
