Joseph M. Erickson, age 86, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Memorial services will be held 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 25th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Rev. Seamus Enright officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Erickson, Kerry Carlson, Ace Carlson and Jack Polkowski. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joseph was born May 1, 1936 in LaSalle County, Illinois, a son of Floyd and Florence (DeBolt) Erickson. He married MaryAnn Johnson June 1, 1957 at the Sheridan Methodist Church. She preceded in death April 17, 2014. He is survived by children, Brad (Kathy) Erickson and Bruce Erickson; grandchildren, Tanya Erickson-Polkowski and fiancé Jeremy Huhta and Blair (Kerry) Carlson; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Lyla, Nessa and Ace. He also leaves sisters, Marilyn Larson and Rita Broadus; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry (Elaine) Erickson, Stanley Twait and Rod Twait; and a sister, Roberta Miller.

Joseph was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Joseph was a steward of the land as a farmer and also worked at Libby-Owens Ford and later in different construction companies. He dearly loved his family and will be deeply missed.
